Online broker trading cost a lot less then regular broker trading. Why because they mostly offer only trading execution. A regular broker offer advice and help; but you need to pay for it

Most online broker will offer tading for stocks, bond, futures. some will also offer forex.

ETF funds are a great way to save on fee. Those funds are following an index and have usually very small commission.

Online broker are used by all kind of investor. casual trader, professional trader, system trader, etc. But all have some knowledge of trading. Some knowledge of trading and stocks are usually necessary to use online broker. Unless you use it to rxecute a plan from an external financial planning. But if you don't know the following terms, bear market, bull market and stock cycle. Be carefull your investment skill and knowledge probably need some learning and online broker are possibly not yet for you.
